Colima is the capital of the agricultural State of Colima. Located in the " Valley of Colima", the name
"Colima" is from the Nahuatl " Colliman" (colli: ancestors or gods, and maitl: domain of). This bustling college city
of 180,000 is watched over by the sacred mountains of Colima; the snowcapped 14,220 ft. Nevado de Colima and it's fiery brother,
the 13.087 ft. Volcan de Fuego ("Volcano of Fire").
Although taller by 1,100, Nevado ("Snowy One") de Colima is more stable than his younger brother, Volcan
de Fuego, one of the world's most active volcanoes. The Volcan de Fuego has erupted more than a dozen times since the conquest.
If you enjoy mountain climbing and hiking than this area offers some of the best terrain in all of Mexico! All just a two
hour drive East of La Manzanilla.
